The Boy Who Cried Falta
Bilingual/bicultural books to foster a love of reading in children of all communities.
David Flores,
Owner / Autor
As an educator and father, David understood the need for more bilingual and bicultural books. Brownie Books was created after David and his wife Kaylyn became parents. Brownie Books comes from David's coaching nickname "Coach Brownie". He named himself Coach Brownie to easily gain the trust of the little ones he coached. Who doesn't love brownies anyway?!
David grew up in El Salvador and immigrated to Texas when he was 13 years old. He is a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University and is a PE teacher in Waxahachie, TX. He teaches soccer to kids as young as two and as big as 18 year old players.David and Kaylyn got married in 2012 after meeting in college. They are a bilingual, biracial, and bicultural couple whose dream is to continue to foster their love for Texas and El Salvador to their daughters, Aspen and Lincoln.

Brownie Books has a great selection of genuinely bilingual and bicultural books. Our goal is to showcase authors who will foster a love of reading by creating relatable stories for children in the Latino community and other families who are interested in learning the language and culture of Latin America. Brownie Books now offers publishing grants and assistance for elementary schools to foster a love of writing. The winners of our Publishing Contest will become published authors and be awarded their own copyright certificate!
"Mis Chanclas and My Chones supports bi-literacy and the love of a multicultural family!"
"Our students loved having a real author, with fun props visit our elementary. Mr. Flores was funny, patient, and allowed the students to be a part of the program. We are very happy with the decision to invite Mr. . Flores, and we look forward to him coming back with new books and characters."
David Antonio Flores, you were by far one of the best authors I have ever seen visit a school and I have been teaching for 22 years. Thank you very much!!!!
Tony and his Dad loved to watch Fútbol together. From this, he discovered how to fake a foul. By faking being hurt, he was given free kicks and penalty kicks that often led to his team's victory. With the help of his golazos and his world-class diving (Think Neymar, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets!), his team makes it to the Dallas Cup final! Will Tony use his trick of calling a ¡Falta! to help win the game? Or will he learn that he's called foul one too many times?
